tagged

I don't buy these kinda tagging things. It is seriously such a waste of time and not to mention, dumb too. I mean, who came up with such an idea (besides the fact that I attempted pioneering such a thing a year ago) in the first place?? But nevermind. In order to celebrate my handing in of two assignments that have been giving me high blood pressure for the past two weeks yesterday, I shall do something dumb. BUT, I will not tag anyone else at the end of it. Yes. End of the road. Why? Er... simply because no one else would do it? Oh well.

Seven things that scare me

Cross dressers // Transvestites.
Remember those silly Chinese newspapers back in Malaysia, where they don't really report much of news besides the headlines you'd see on every other paper, but instead have heaps of other articles that really belong to some tabloid magazine or the infamous Malay one, Mastika? Or was it Mustika? Nevermind. I remember many years ago, as I was just flipping through some pages of it once (not that I understand a word of it), I stumbled upon a huge picture, almost taking up a whole page, of a really, and I mean really hot caucasian babe. Now run through the process and list of things that goes through a teenage boy's mind as he makes such amazing discoveries. But before I could reach the end of my train of thoughts, my cousin creeped up behind me and asked, "Hehe.. pretty or not?"
"Duh," I replied.
"Heheheheheheheheeee.... guess what?" *long pause* And then he whispers, "That's a man."
Imagine the horror. All those thoughts crumbling down like bricks of a building being demolished and replaced by horrors of the dark, dark possibilities.

The dark.
Yes. It's true. But only sometimes though, when my mind creeps around a little bit beyond its usual bounds. My favourite relaxing spot is usually in the dark. So dark that you really just can't see anything with your eyes open. But sometimes, just sometimes, it freaks me out a little bit. It all started when I was about 7 or 8, when one night, I woke up from sleep during the wee hours to take uh... a wee. Back in those days, in my old house, I had only one window at the furthest corner of my room and they were those tinted panes ones where there'd be at least 3 panes and they close by flipping them vertically with a lever. Outside my room is a light which my family usually leaves on at night, just to keep the place from looking haunted. What I saw as I woke up scared the shit out of me.
Just outside my window was a shadow of a man peering through my window panes.
I quickly rushed to my parents' room which was connected through the bathroom to tell them, but they simply dismissed it as a nightmare. By the time I got back to my room, there was nothing anymore.

Numbers.
This is a weird one. Especially since I'm doing a Commerce course and am thinking along the lines of majoring in Accounting. But I used to, and still do sometimes, have nightmares about numbers. Since I was a kid, in fact! They'd be very vague dreams, but involves equations which gradually became more sophisticated by the year and they were impossible to solve! And to make things worse, there was an infinity of them. Like a line of equations I had to solve that would never end. And I couldn't stop trying!! Serious! That really scares me!

Herbal food.
Some of it. Especially those Chinese herbal soups your grandma (if you were Chinese) would make you take because you have pimples. You don't wanna know what they put in there. You don't wanna know why it's good for you. And you certainly don't wanna know what it tastes like.

Exams.
Who isn't?

The dentist.
I have learnt over a loooong period of time to slowly overcome this one. But it still gets on my nerves when I'm seeing one. The things they'd put into your mouth and do to it, and not to forget the pain involved.
Then he goes, "Oh... my... god", or "Oh no".
Black out.

Losing stuff from my pocket.
Another silly one. But you have no idea how conscious I get over the stuff in my pockets - the number of times I'd check to see if they're still there, especially with keys and my wallet. So sensitive, that I think that through my concentrated thoughts about it, I've actually grown more receptors around my butt so I can notice when my wallet falls out or something.

Seven random facts about me

I used to sleepwalk from time to time. It has always been an intriguing experience as it all would either seem like a dream to me the next morning, or I wouldn't even remember it at all. And the very fact that I could carry a conversation with my parents while sleepwalking? Whoa...

I am a neatfreak. I can't stand disorder in my room or house, so everything has to be kept in a neat, systematic order. I think I inherited this from my mum. But I even try to arrange my CD's, if I really could be bothered, alphabetically. But due to people taking them in and out of the rack ever so frequently, I've given up hopes on that one.

Cleaning helps me relax. And not to mention procrastinate. But yea, I somehow find vacuuming or arranging my room thoroughly relaxing.

Iris has her Thunderbird collection, well I've got my THUNDERCATS collection!! Damn right. All 133 (I think) episodes of pure "Thunder... Thunder... Thuuunndeeerrrcaaattsss... (obscenity ahead) Hoooooooeeeeeeee!!!" action.

I love comics. No, that is an understatement. I ADORE comics. Since I was a kid, I've been collecting mangas, and whenever possible, American comics as well. I have a collection worth about RM700 of comics back home in Malaysia. Damn I love it.

My birthday lands on the same day with the legendary Travis Barker, just 10 years after.

I have a glass fetish. I love houses and apartments with lotsa windows. Of course, they wouldn't be practical when it comes to privacy, but boy do they look good.

Seven things I hope to do before I die

Get married? I don't know. I've never really thought about this before. As in what I'd want to do before I die. But yea, I suppose I'd wanna get married. And have kids. And hopefully live to see my grandkid. Don't most Asians want to do that?

Strike in rich! Haha! I know it's silly. But I've always dreamt of striking the Lotto or something like that over here, and depending on how the world works, retire in the safest and not so rich (in terms of currency exchange) country in the tropics. Mwahahaha!!

Travel in Europe and maybe America. I love the colours and the rich, aged architecture planted throughout Europe. As for the States... well... simply because it's the States.

Spend a good amount of time with my friends and make sure they know just how much I truly cherish them.

Become a really, really good photographer. I'd really love to spend a good time learning the ropes in detail. Photography has always been a side hobby but 70% of what I do still lies in Photoshop. Haha! Well, I'm planning to change that.

Have the opportunity to tell her everyday that I love her.

Find God. And have a good chat with Him.

Seven things I can do

I can talk a lot. Serious. Not in a speech. But just in chatting. Once you've gotten me in the mood, I can babble on for ages. Not a very good trait for a guy. But oh well. I'm friendly. Oh, but of course, with such a distinct feature, I also thankfully come along with a good listening ability (at least I think I do... or maybe hope so). It comes in a package.

I can just sometimes tell which part of a song it is at if I just listened to a 3-second rift. Anywhere in the song. As long as I know the song, of course. Just play that one part, and I can tell you if it's the chorus after the bridge, it's the 1st verse, or the rift between the 2nd verse and chorus.

I can be corny. Very corny. But I recognize it quickly, though. And when I do, I'll try to save myself with whatever way possible. Which at most times would end up with something even cornier than I was before.

I can appreciate lame jokes. As a matter of fact, I find lame jokes hilarious. Simply because it's lame, that is. Serious.

I can be very sarcastic. I used to be. But I've been keeping that part of me on a low profile lately 'cause I think it was offending a few people. But besides that, I think sarcasm is funny. That's why I like Guy Ritchie movies. All the conversations are snappy, cynical, and sarcastic. I'd be tearing from laughter.

I can play computer games for a full day, without any human contact. Very unhealthy, yes. But I've done it before. Aside the breaks in between for food, of course. Men shall not live on bread alone but bread nevertheless is good. I once played Metal Gear Solid for a full day, starting in the morning and finishing it by night. But I fell sick the day after, though.

I can be quite the geek (as some of you may already notice). Not to be confused with a nerd. A nerd is one who spends his days thinking of which tute he ought to prepare for in the coming semester and believes that E=MC2 is flawed because Einstein's hair got in the way of his thoughts. I'm talking computer games, or geeky franchise movies. Oh, but I must make it clear that that doesn't include Star Trek though. I think that has to be the lamest series ever runned. And the movies! By the beard of Zeus!

Seven people who should fill this out (okay I lied)

Esther - simply because I can.
Lynn - because you know you need help in things to blog about. Haha!
Sarah Ann - because if you don't do this, you'll only be rambling about Orlando // Anthony // Harry Potter??
JYG - because I think it'd be funny to see three separate posts of this on one blog.
Sophia - because you're affiliated to JYG. And simply because I can too.
Alex - because I know you won't and I need seven people here.
Angie + Ashley - because you haven't blogged in 2 months!!

trapped

So there I was in the living room on Wednesday night, typing away furiously with my assignment, when I heard a muffled cry from kg's room.

"Er... dave? I'm stuck."

It was Esther. As kg was out, she had decided to watch recorded sessions of Oprah on kg's computer. But just as she finished, what she had not counted on was that kg's door would all of a sudden, for no apparent reason, stuff up. Apparently some kind of ring on the handle that's supposed to connect it to the lock on the side of the door broke. Hence, when the handle's turned, the lock doesn't.

So I tried to fix it, of course. I mean, you have to understand. Being trapped is really inconvenient. But being trapped in kg's room takes it to a whole new level. I started by taking the handle apart.

While that was amusing, it unfortunately didn't work. All we got was a hole in a door that wouldn't budge.

As all (actually, just one) bright ideas were just about going down the drain, in what appeared to be a dramatic entrance, kg got home to save the day. Claiming that he has had to break into rooms before in a certain apartment building I shall not mention but happens to be along Swanston Street and sounds like the word 'narrow' but without the letter 'n' in it, he seemed to be experienced in such matters.

So we tried first with a card. Apparently what we see when thieves use cards to swipe through the sides of doors in those cheap movies are actually possible. When we do that, we can actually force the lock back into the door and hence open it. Theoretically, of course. The card didn't work. It was too big. We needed something smaller. Something thinner.

We then used a small screwdriver, the kind you'd use for your spectacles. As it was impossible to do it from the outside, we had to pass it to Esther through the hole and had her do it herself. And voila! She was free!

The door is still left at this state to this day. Kg's convinced that he can fix it himself, but we'll have to wait till after his exams to see that happen. So till then, he can't really close his room door, and that really sucks. I won't say why. So what he's done is cut up one of his old cards and stuck it at the side of his door. This way, there won't be a hole for the lock to uh... lock into?

So what's the moral of the story, my friends?
Well... nothing really. Just thought it was an amusing story to share.
Till next time.

p/s: kg. if you're reading this, i'm just kidding about your room. there's nothing wrong with your room. it is definitely not a mess at all. serious!

inside & outside

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

The days are getting nicer. The sun's peeking out a little more often. The clouds scattered away, leaving a clear blue sea hovering above us all. Makes me wanna trot down to the beach.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com with these slippers, yea

But... No.
Why, you ask?
Because my exams are starting in less than 3 weeks' time!! My exams! The end of semester examinations! Which would last for another 3 weeks after!
Oh, the agony! The frustration! The lack on willpower to pick up the book although I ought to!

And yet, the weather outside beckons. Almost mockingly.

This is unfair. What is wrong with this world? We should clearly all be exempted from the exams because the weather outside is too beautiful to be true. In fact, we should all have an excursion. No need to be anywhere far. Gold Coast will do. Where we could lay down in the sand, enjoy the cool breeze, and sip colourful drinks with little umbrellas in it. Nothing but blue and gold.

Sigh.
If only. And what's worse is that I'm having my Finance exam on my birthday. Har har. It's a joke, I tell you. Of all subjects, take the one I hate (in other words, I don't understand) most and throw it at me on my birthday.
Sigh.
I guess there's no escaping, huh? (Good guess). Which i why I'm committing the following weeks to geeking out in the library. I find that staying at home can be really distractive, so I'm gonna have to study in the library. With any chance, I might come to grasp a glow of an understanding in that subject. As for the rest of the subjects, well... I should study them too.

The road ahead is a treacherous one. God be with me.

*sneezes

This got me laughing my socks off. Until I realised that it was for real, that is.

Jon, I've said it before, and I'll say it again. You're the man. Now with more connections established, I expect nothing short of a full VIP pass into FHM parties or shoots when I'm around. Yuchun can contribute too.

On a sidenote, I'm sick. Down with hayfever I think. Started off with an itchy nose, next thing I knew I was having a fever. Pumping up on the vitamin C's though. Hopefully the ordeal will pass quickly so I can get back to my books.

Haha. Yea right.

October 22, 2005

mmmm... pastry

Okay. I'm still sick. And as diagnosed by Dr. Kam, it's not hayfever. Just the common flu, probably. One that is lasting for the 4th day now, and boy am I sick of it. Well currently, I'm just feeling drowsy with a bit of a dry throat and a nose so blocked Gladwrap™ should use me. Hopefully by the end of this weekend, I'll be fully recovered with enough rest.

But one thing I thought I ought to mention is that kg's mum is around. And damn is that a blessing. She can cook and bake like she created such things in the first place. If only I weren't so sick that my appetite & tastebuds are distorted. Not that that's stopping me, really. But I suppose the effect's still there. Yet, she and another friend of hers, Aunty Angie, have been hanging around in the afternoons doing nothing but baking and cooking.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com these stuff is only just from today. there was more from thursday's as well!

And dig this: They both make everything from scratch! Even the bread, from dough and flour and whatsoever, to bake it in the most perfect of textures! How cool is that?!

Life is certainly good despite the cruel, gloomy weather and sickness this week. Kg's mum has been preparing meals and side snacks for the house and they are so delicious. Better than most cakeshops, I dare say! And tonight, she's gonna be cooking some Kuching Laksa, something I've never had the honour to taste before but apparently is gold.

Well, only one way to find out.
Still, curse this wretched flu!

of lately

Of lately, my notebook has been spyware-ridden. Not that of the ordinary ones. Ones like 'CoolWWWSearch' or some 'Trek Blue Nuker' crap. The ones that can't be deleted unless I have three anti-spyware softwares running on the background at the same time and I perform all these scans while my Windows is on 'Safe Mode'. Or something like that. I so can't be bothered to try fixing it, but am so annoyed that these windows start popping up in the middle of nowhere saying that I ought to get in touch with my inner self by buying one of these self-help books.

Of lately, or more to say just tonight, Mamak Night was.. well... stuffy. It's this thing that City Church's Planet Uni had organised, which was focused on well... mamak food, obviously. Hilarious, yes. Especially with the karaoke's. I think I chipped a tooth from cringing. But the food wasn't filling, in my opinion. Still, kudos to the Planet Uni team who attempted to feed so many people with such little staff (at least I thought they were under-staffed). Then again, I did see heaps of leftovers on my way out. Wth?? And I didn't walk away with a 60gig Ipod Photo from the 'lucky' draw so I guess that's crappy. Oh well, at least I felt entertained for the while there.

Of lately, the exam fever has swept the nations. Being the last day of uni this semester today, the stress is on with only one week of study break and a whole lot of syllabus to cover. Finance is a killer as I simply have no idea where to start with. And oh do the days seem to just pass by faster. We all just suddenly have so little time to do our revisions. *Sigh. I can only wait to face the impending doom.

Of lately, I've been feeling low and tired. I think it's simply the exam fever. Or maybe it's something else I don't know. But boy does it drain me. My priorities are messed up. I haven't even found the time to even catch up with my buddies (ie. Alex and... Alex. Okay so I don't have many friends). I try to study but I can only do so much when I have to cram. I'm tired. I don't even take that many photos anymore. Which is quite something if you know me well enough.

Of lately, I just wanna go home. And forget that this even exists.
