April 4, 2007

guilty as sin

Just like Esther, I've recently lost some weight too. She lost two, I lost one. Yay. And what better way to celebrate that by putting on another three.

I've been snacking all day today, it's not funny. I haven't had a proper meal today except for dinner. It's crap. It's not that I'm trying to save money or something, I assure you. It's just that I've been having these cravings all day! I substitute junk for my proper meals!
And they're all fattening!!!

For 'breakfast' at 11, I had Cheesy Macaroni. No meat. Just that and pepper.

This was followed by 'lunch' at 2:30p.m., with my beloved IndoMee.

At around 6ish, I had some leftover Cookie & Cream Cake from Fraus on Sunday. I downed it so fast I don't have any photos of it.
Then I had dinner (the only proper meal I've had of the day) at around 7ish.
And just about an hour ago, kg cooked some carbonara and I had that for supper.

I blame it on my assignment. Assignments make me snack and lose sight of proper meals. And as if a joke, having dinner by the tv, Channel Ten was screening The Biggest Loser.
I feel like I need to run now.

next up

This Thursday I didn't hit some new place up to eat. I thought of revisiting Fraus where they served the craziest chocolates in the world. No, not really. But I did order this mug of classic hot chocolate, thinking it'd just be a mug of awesomeness with marshmallows, only to get a mug (yes, check to that one), but filled with purely melted chocolate (no check).
I'll have to show you pics on that one one day. Iris has got them all for now.

I had an assignment to finish up and hand in on Thursday. So I didn't have the time to go explore.
But I'll make it up to you guys.

Coming Tuesday (the 10th), let's head on down to the Coburg Drive-In Cinema!

Only to own the widest set of screens in the Southern Hemisphere, the Village Coburg Drive-In cinema should be quite the experience, I say. The website says it's got a 50's era diner too. Say hello to Grease. I should wear black leather and jambul up my hair. They've got either drive-in speakers or you could tune in to an assigned FM channel on your radio to get sound for the movie. Pretty cool, eh?

I'm not too sure how much a ticket costs yet, but from what I've heard so far, they charge entry per car and not per head. Which means it'll probably be cheaper if you've got a full car to watch a movie here than all of you hit Hoyts. The only issue to sort out is how the people in the backseat are gonna watch the movie. I'll leave that to you creative bunch to figure out.
So far from the session times I've checked, there's Disturbia, Meet the Robinsons, or Mr. Bean's Holiday. Go IMDB/Rottentomatoes them up yourselves and maybe vote which movie you'd like to watch that night. The session times can be found here.
Like before, this is an open invitation to anybody who's reading this. Obviously, you'd need a car for this one. But try to make it anyway. I think it'll be quite fun, even if you had to share the car with 4 other people and sit in funny positions to watch the movie (unless you so happen to own a convertible - in that case i'm your new best friend).

Let me know if you'd like to come along by dropping a comment. And perhaps we could sort of vote for what movie we'd like to watch. Majority wins. Just not 300. That's reserved for IMAX.

Cheers!
And Happy Easter, everyone!

oh crud

My PC just sorta died on me. Along with a lot of movies and music.
Thank God I have my laptop with music. Movies, goodbye.
It's stupid. I downloaded this Windows skinner thing to test out called TopThemes XP. It wasn't cool. So I deleted it. But apparently that's not all I deleted. Along with its uninstallation, it wiped out some UXtheme.dll file. So now my PC just loads up and all I see is my wallpaper and nothing else. No taskbar. No icons. Nothing. To turn it off, I have to ctrl+alt+del it and shut it down.

I hate TopThemes XP. Let's all hit the 'contact us' page on their webpage and send hatemail.
Nah, I'm just kidding.

Anyways, last night's drive-in cinema was pretty cool. We watched Mr. Bean in the end because there wasn't a good time for Meet the Robinsons and Disturbia apparently is only premiering on Thursday. Don't ask about the movie. But the experience itself was interesting. The diner wasn't as 50's-ish as I hoped it to be. But I still think it was rather cool that you could just sms an order to them there and they'll bring the food to your car. If only they were in roller-skates.

I thought that getting audio from my FM radio was pretty cool too. Wasn't spectacular in terms of quality, but there was a certain comfort to it which I can't quite describe. Can't help thinking what it'd be like for those cars with them subbies though. You know, like those ahbeng duff duff speakers. You'll get a lone vibrating car in a carpark watching Jurassic Park.

All in all I actually enjoyed it. Okay, so the movie wasn't all that bad. It's Mr Bean. What should one expect? I think it was just Emma de Caunes who saved the movie for me. French chics whose first language isn't English but speaking English with that accent are simply mmmmm.

i am a star

I had a nightmare last night.
I was on the bandwagon with N'sync during their comeback tour, and I was a musician-cum-dancer for them. They had these dance pad thingies (think PS2, but with more advanced technological features), where as you dance to it, they make music according to your steps.
I was on their frontline.

I woke up sweating.
(p/s: lydia, try interpreting THAT!)

sunshine after the rain

I've been busy lately, being back in uni after my midsem break. I'm currently in the middle of my mid semester exams and two has gone down, leaving me with one more on the Monday to come. It's been nothing short of hectic, hectic, hectic, studying whenever possible and playing likewise too. It's safe, I guess, to say that I'm exhausted. After the Monday paper, I've still got an audit assignment to work on.
It's lovely.

But that hasn't stopped me from catching up with the guys back in Eltham on Tuesday night, at least. One of my highschool classmates had a dinner thingy at her place, so I decided (after declining on several previous occassions) to take that half hour drive back up to Eltham that night. Just to catch up with the boys I haven't seen in so long.
I arrived late but the 10 of them had already consumed more alcohol than the local liquor store had to offer I think. So much for dinner, I thought. But they were still very much sober. Amazing creatures.

It was good catching up with them. I think it's just good every once in a while to go back. Just a reminder of where I've been; where I'm from.

Anyway, coming Tuesday, I'm planning to catch Sunshine. I'm actually looking forward to it. It's from the director of Trainspotting and 28 Days Later. I've never watched any of them before but I've heard a lot of good reviews. Likewise with this movie.
Plus, it's right after my last midsem paper. So why not just treat myself to a movie. I'll probably catch the 9:00pm one at Hoyts Melbourne Central, so anybody interested just hop along! It's cheapass Tuesday so movie tickets are cheap.

Till then, enjoy your weekend!

illusion of a break

It feels like a holiday.
Right after my (horrible) Monday paper, I had a day off. I get my Tuesdays and Thursdays off, if you remember. But not only did I get Tuesday off, I got Wednesday as well. Yesterday (Wednesday) was ANZAC Day, a public holiday, and hence, that's two days off. And today, I merely have two classes to go to to replace yesterday's classes in the afternoon. Not too shabby.

Except that tomorrow, I fear, is gonna be a very, very long day. I'll start at 10 and finish at 5ish with classes, head on home for a quick dinner, run some little errands, and it's a two hour drive down to Phillip Island for the PlanetUni camp.

Upon arrival, we start our first session immediately all the way till about 10:30 I think. As much fun as that would probably be, I see myself a zombie in church camp.

Anyway, I caught Sunshine with a couple of friends on Tuesday. I thought it was good, contrary to Mel's opinion. Some shots were just absolutely beautiful and the soundtrack (which apparently they're not selling) is amazing! Although I agree that the pace was mostly like a beaten up old Volkswagen, I thought the story itself (and the kan-cheongness) was more than enough to make up for it. But that's just another opinion anyway.

On another plane of matter (yes, yes, I notice I'm going off all tangents today too), I thought I'd share something rather funny as well. A new friend made me a gift to thank me for burning her a compilation of some music (which I thought was a really sweet gesture, by the way. the gift, that is. i'm not saying i'm sweet. although i am.).
But apparently she hasn't got my name quite right yet...

Today's one of my favourite people's birthday.

So I thought I'd shout out a happy birthday here - something I haven't done for anyone in a while.
I should. I know.
