Getaway

Was at Genting Highland over the last 3 days and boy it was so fun. It was so good to be able to take out my jumper and actually needing to wear them again. Arrived on Friday afternoon and was utterly disappointed with their hotel. It was terrible, not up to standard at all. The room was cramped, with no coffee and tea facilities, the bathroom and toilet were separated which was ok, but they were tiny and the wash basin is located outside the bathroom along the walkway inside the room. They do not supply toothpaste and their ‘Shampoo, Conditioner and Shower Gel’ is essentially this ONE soap inside a soap dispenser mounted on the wall. How gross!

Knowing that we would be staying in a hotel, my sisters and I did not bring along our towels. As it was a room for twin share, there were only 2 towels in the room and not enough pillows to go around for the 3 of us. Sigh. We rang the housekeeping people and recorded was our conversation:

Sis: Hello Housekeeping, I am calling from room 22-664 and can we have some laundry bags and an extra towel?
Housekeeping: (Rudely) We don’t have laundry bags.
Sis: (Amused) You don’t have laundry bags?? Then what about towel?
Housekeeping: Erm, we don’t supply extra towel. You can exchange for a clean towel and I can give you one laundry bag.
Sis: Hmmm. Then what about pillow?
Housekeeping: No.
Sis: (Curious) Then what do you have??
Housekeeping: - Dead Silent –

Just couldn’t believe it!! So we managed to get 2 laundry bags in the end (one more than stated) and no towel or pillow from the housekeeping. But then somehow, my mum had her way to get some extra towels for us!! So at least we all had our own towel. Phew…

Went into the casino and saw some aggressive gamblers. I was hoping to be stopped for an ID check but then haiya. There were so many people there especially smokers! I think I had a serious overdose of 2nd hand smoke while I was in there. I was telling my mum that whenever she wonders what happened to the Chinese population in Malaysia, know that they are up here gambling. Quite scary and interesting to observe.

The highlight of the trip was probably the Theme Park. Wow… it has been a good 5 and half years since Movie World!! I think a new hip really make things easier. This time, I actually wanted to go into the theme park and play. I could go for all the rides I wanted and walk here and there without much pain at all. It was such a wonderful time and I found the child in me back again. Hahaha. I screamed for all I want, even when it wasn’t moving at all. Went on Corkscrew, the Double Deck Carousel, Space Adventure (which was a joke and a waste of time), twice on the Space Shot and thrice on the Spinner. Hehehe… With the mischief in me, I even tried to create fireworks with un-popped corns flying out of my mouth. And then we competed to see whose corn can fly further… Hahaha. My sis Michelle was the Champion!!

The experience on the Space Shot was so unforgettable. It is THE RIDE in Genting Theme Park. We queued for over an hour just for that nerve wreaking 10 seconds of hanging mid-way in the air and a speedy 5 seconds of free fall. Woahhhhh…. It was sooooo incredible that we queued for a second try… Oh man… as it was the 2nd try, I knew what to expect and made the most out of that 5 seconds of free fall… Hahahaha. That’s the great feeling and the experience when you obey the law of nature.

Besides fun, there was food!! We visited the mushroom farm there for lunch on both Saturday and Sunday. We ate so much mushrooms and all kinds of mushroom. Yummmmm…

The trip was fun… but the hotel sucks!! Beware my friend, the next time you go to Genting Highland, avoid First World Hotel or be prepared!! =)

unreal

Do you know the feeling when a man your mum’s age trying to flirt with you?? Argh!

I was at my childhood friend’s wedding last Saturday and there was this uncle sitting next to me. Just by looking at him, I know he is not married and perhaps a little desperate. I shall not go into the details but it really felt uneasy and strange. Thank God though, he found out that I am my mum, his old-classmate’s daughter at the start of the dinner and that was when he started to practice some self-restraint. If not, I can’t imagine how worse it could get. As awkward as it was, there was me trying my best to keep the distance and trying to be polite at the same time, for I am my mum’s daughter and he is an uncle after all.
