dunnowhattosay

It’s been over a week since I started work, and you won’t believe what funny and unanticipated events I have encountered. Work related stuff aside; I have had 2 very interesting and ‘dunno-what-to-say’ encounters. Last week on Fri, after taking off halfway through the all staff compulsory Principal’s Briefing, I made my way back to Malaysia, with the intention of catching an half hourly express bus from JB back to Kluang. I started the journey at about 6:45pm from my home in Woodlands and by the time I got to the checkpoint which is also in Woodlands, it was already 7:30pm. Nevermind. It then took another hour before I managed to pass through the immigration clearance and proceed to the Larkin Bus Terminal in JB. I finally arrived at the bus terminal at 8:45pm. To my horror, the bus tickets to Kluang for all scheduled buses for all the 3 different companies were sold out. That in other word meant that there was no way I could take a bus to go back to Kluang. I couldn’t believe myself!!! And there I was, stuck in this Larkin Bus Terminal, with no bus ticket to go home.

I wasn’t alone!! There were many other Kluangite in my shoes and we were all stuck wondering what to do… Soon there was this Malay guy taking the opportunity to ‘do business’. He shouted “Kluang, Kluang” and offered to drive four people back to Kluang at the price of RM35 each (bus ticket only cost RM6.50). As there was nothing much we could do - we gotta get home somehow - I started to bargain my way and finally with the co-operation of the other 3 persons, we managed to strike the deal at RM30 each. That is a good RM120 for this driver alright!! So we made our way to his car and he started to drive. Finally at around 10:45pm, we reached Kluang bus station. We didn’t want him to send us home one by one because we thought it would be safer for both me and the other girl to get off at the same time. Mum came to pick me up and we all had a good laugh!!! And for now, I wouldn’t want to go back on a Friday night even if you kill me.

Another bizarre thing happened to me last night. Just when I thought I would have a relaxing evening at home after a long brain draining one and a half week, my room door decided to play games with me. I was locked out of my room!!! Not because I left my keys in the room, but because the lock decided to get stuck. I had my keys with me, I could turn the key but the door just refused to be unlocked. I tried to knock the door open, throwing myself onto the door, but it hurts me more that anything. The door is solid. Why is my life so tough?? I asked myself. Thank God my housemates came back. I got him to try knock the door down for me but even him couldn’t get the door down. We went searching for tools but we found nothing suitable or strong enough to knock the lock open. We tried and tried… finally after a good 30 minutes of trying and ransacking the house for more tools, we managed to knock the door knob down, dispatch it from the door just to open the door. So now, my room door has got no door knob. It has a hole were the knob was supposed to be and it is now covered with a piece of paper. The owner promised to get it fixed tomorrow when he comes back from the sea.

What can I say?? I can only laugh.
